Spring is almost near which means new spring wardrobes! Here are my favourite trends for S/S 2012:

I was a bit iffy when the floral patterns started coming in because it reminded me of the fabric you would see on a couch at your grandma's house but it has grown on me! There are some great prints out there and just make an outfit more interesting. Floral prints are easy to pair with a basic top or blouse (you can use any colour that is used in the floral print on your garment) or to wear alone as a dress or one piece. If you are adventurous, you can mix and match your favourite floral patterns.
MY KEY PIECES: Trousers and dresses.
I have always been a fan of the androgynous, black and white monochromatic trend and I was happy to see it back this season with a bright twist. As oppose to the original black and white monotoned look, pastels and neons have made their way to the monotone trend. As pictured above, you can do any colour for the monochromatic trend as long as you stay within whatever colour hue you plan to wear. Crisp white pieces are a key for this summer as it is a contrast from wearing black during the fall/winter and always gives that sophisticated, fresh look.
MY KEY PIECES: Blazers, skinny trousers, button up blouses, high neckline tops, wedges, accessories.
Just in time for Easter, pastels are fun and easy on the eyes. Pastels are more "safer" colours to wear because they are not too bright and in your face and not dark (for those who want to start wearing colour this season and are afraid to go too bright... opt out for a pastel!). They are a great alternative to wearing neutral colours and add some happiness to a wardrobe. Pastel skinny jeans are one of the biggest key items this season as they come in many candy, mint, and pastel colours. Don't be afraid to pair different pastel colours together... this is the season to try new things!
MY KEY PIECES: Skinny jeans, shorts, loose fit tanks, button up blouses, converse, nail polish.
Super bright and for those who are daring, neons are back again this season! Vibrant neons are easy to pair with black or white and just give that punch to an outfit without having to put too much effort in your outfit. For those who are not as daring but still want to try something neon, accessories, nail polish, purses, clutches, and shoes are a great way to start (just pair them with a neutral coloured outfit).
MY KEY ITEMS: tank tops, accessories, pants/leggings, nail polish.
I was never really into lace and crocheted pieces a year or two ago, but as my style has changed a bit, I just love how much detail each piece has. I recently went to Zara and found an amazing pair of cream crochet shorts (it is actually my first crocheted piece in my wardrobe) and now I want more! Lace and crocheted dresses are great for the spring and summer weather and give that girly/romantic look. You can pair together your fave crochet/lace shorts with either a neutral top or mix it together with the pastel trend. Time to wear some lighter and brighter colours while we can!
MY KEY PIECES: Shorts, high waisted shorts, skirts, skater dresses, high neckline dresses.
